I find myself thinking through the comparison between
driving on familiar roads in the summer,
the kind of trip where you hardly mind driving
and find yourself contemplating where all
you might go on your journey out and about
and
driving on the highway in a blizzard,
where you are every bit aware of the 2000lb vehicle
you are (mostly) in control of and all you can do
is hyperfocus on the tail lights ahead of you,
hoping what you are fixating on to help
guide you home does not lead you astray
traveling through this world with a vice-grip
on the steering wheel and a laser focus
on putting one mile safely behind another
no matter how long it takes
